About Us.
Hear Tomorrow seeks to educate and promote awareness of the danger to our hearing from continued exposure to loud sounds. Hear Tomorrow communicates both the unique pleasure of sound and the need for individuals to take personal responsibility to care for what is one of our most valuable senses. We want to encourage everyone to continue to enjoy sound in all its beauty and diversity...... but without forgetting safety.

In many countries, legislation is in place for workers who are exposed to specific noise levels and their employers have a duty to safeguard their hearing by either reducing the noise levels or providing the required hearing protection.

The levels of noise and the exposure times vary, but the laws exist becuase it's a fact that noise can permanently damage our hearing. Hearing loss is one of the most socially disabling conditions.. By mandating the use of hearing protection for workers, at least they are protected within their working environment.

Outside of work, there is NO legislation. It is up to the individual to safeguard their own hearing and unfortunately, people who spend a lot of time in noisy environments often become so accustomed that they are unaware of the damage they are inflicting on their hearing. Neither do they have the benefit of education or awareness to the problem.

Noise induced hearing damage can sometimes lead to hearing loss. This noise induced hearing loss is permanent and irriversible....... and also completely avoidable. Through high-profile media events and corporate partnerships Hear Tomorrow raises funding to fulfil our own initiatives and also donates funding to existing hearing related charities.

WHY SHOULD WE CARE

In today's mass-media society, noise pollution and high sound levels are the accepted norm.

Whether attending a rock concert, club night or travelling on public transport (with our mobile phones and personal stereos turned up full to compete with the ever-growing levels of background noise) our ears are at risk.

The use of in-ear monitoring systems and specialist hearing protection by an ever-increasing number of high profile musicians hashelped to highlight the core issue of hearing health. But to most people, particularly the younger generation, the very real and socially debilitaating risks of lound noise remain a mystery.

We are all at risk.

The ambient noise levels that exist in music clubs, when using headphones and in-ear devices, even in shops now regularly exceed 100 dB(A). The noise generated from power tools, lawnmowers or even a noisy street penetrates the unprotected ear.

So why isn't anyone doing anything about this very real danger and why aren't we protecting ourselves? We are all allowing ourselves to be deafened by the world around us.

We wont realise we have a problem until it's too late. And, when we do, because hearing loss is irreversible, there is NOTHING we will be able to do about it............

AIMS OF HEAR TOMORROW

Education and Solutions
Our activities focus on those most at risk from high sound pressure levels and noise induced hearing damage outisde the workplace: young people, students, musicians, sound engineers, music producers, club-goers, concert goers and DJs. Hear Tomorrow promotes hearing conservation and protection.

We work with key influencers - DJs, musicians, producers, engineers, sports personalities to ensure the safe listening message is communicated credibly by respected, committed individuals.

We seek to work with the manufacturers of sound equipment, portable music players and telecommunications equipment to encourage responsible attitudes toward sound and hearing conservation through product innovation. We encourage the use of ethical products designed to conserve hearing and, in doing so, aim to foster responsible, young business talent. To this end, commercial friends and advocates already actively support Hear Tomorrow.

We work with club managers and venues to promote safe listening environments.

We aim to provide a worldwide forum for hearing related issues.

As the world becomes increasingly noisy and populations live longer, the problems of noise induced hearing damage can only increase..... imagine a world without sound, without speech, without music...it's not a nice thought. But we can do something about it. Help us to encourage the safe enjoyment of sound.
